Presentation of the Portuguese Society of Psychodrama
The training of Psychodrama Directors in Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon started In 1987 right after the launching of the Portuguese Pyschodrama Society (SPP - Sociedade Portuguesa de Psicodrama- 1986). The work began with the collaboration of both Alfredo Soeiro (Brasilian Psychodramatist) and Rojas Bermudez (from the Argentinean School).
S.P.P. is not only the scientific organization for research, training and dissemination of the morenian Psychodrama and Sociodrama in Portugal, but it also promotes and coordinates Psychodrama and Sociodrama training courses for clinical and social professionals; organizes psychodrama and sociodrama national congresses, workshops and seminars for the public.
The organization is composed by 19 voluntary members organised in different sections (Council, General Assembly, Supervision Board, Training Committee and Secretariat) and are elected every 2 years. It has around 500 affiliated professionals (both certified and students of Psychodrama and Sociodrama training courses).
For 30 years, S.P.P. has been working with national and international institutions and professionals in health and social intervention. Since its foundation SPP organized and managed:
- Psychodrama and Sociodrama training courses for medical and social professionals; the training for Director of Sociodrama started in 2000;
- Psychodrama and Sociodrama national Conferences every two years; the 13rd Portuguese Congress of Psychodrama was held in November 2016;
- Annual Spring Meetings for the whole community of the Portuguese psycho- and sociodramatists affiliated in S.P.P.; the 6th Spring Meeting was held this year
- Psychodrama international Congresses, workshops and seminars directed to all types of public; as the I.A.G.P. 4th Regional Mediterranean Congress held in 2011, Porto;
- 1st International Sociodrama Conference (2007, Carcavelos, PT; chair person: Manuela Maciel);
- S.P.P. establishes connections with other national and European institutions to promote and develop a network to spread and disseminate Morenian studies and publications.
S.P.P. is a member of the International Association of Group Psychotherapy (I.A.G.P.), Psychodrama Section, founded in Zurich in 1973 by J. L. Moreno. S.P.P. is also a member of the Federation of European Psychodrama Training Organisations (F.E.P.T.O.)
S.P.P. has been published "Psychodrama", a biannual journal of literature on Psychodrama and Sociodrama, since 1991. Scientific Research in the field of Psychodrama and Sociodrama also plays an important part of the job of the association.
S.P.P. has launched the First International Sociodrama Conference, the First Transgenerational Conference, the First FEPTO Conference and also two Sociatry Retreats and many trainings and workshops with leading figures of the Psychodrama World.
